Abstract
'YOUR SILENT PARTNER', A 54 MINUTE, 16-MILLIMETER, COLOR-SOUND DOCUMENTARY FILM, WAS ONE OF THE MATERIALS DEVELOPED FOR A PUBLIC EDUCATION PROJECT INTENDED TO EDUCATE THE MICHIGAN PUBLIC TO THE PROBLEM OF ORGANIZED CRIME. TWO CIVIC GROUPS AND ONE WORK GROUP FROM YOUNGSTOWN, OHIO, WERE SELECTED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE STUDY. A PRETEST-POSTTEST RESEARCH DESIGN WAS UTILIZED TO DETERMINE THE FILM'S EFFECT ON PUBLIC AWARENESS OF ORGANIZED CRIME. A QUESTIONNAIRE WAS DEVISED TO TEST THE THREE GROUPS ON MATERIAL PRESENTED IN THE FILM. THE THREE VARIABLES CONTROLLED IN THIS STUDY WERE SEX, AGE, AND LEVEL OF EDUCATION. THE QUESTIONNAIRE USED AND PRETEST-POSTTEST DATA ARE INCLUDED IN THE APPENDIX. A BIBLIOGRAPHY IS ALSO INCLUDED. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
