REVIEW AND ASSESSMENT OF 100 STUDIES WHICH EVALUATED THE EFFECTIVENESS OF CORRECTIONAL OR PREVENTIVE TREATMENT.
Abstract
SEVEN BASIC CRITERIA WHICH THE AUTHOR FEELS ARE MINIMAL METHODOLOGICAL REQUIREMENTS FOR EVALUATIVE STUDIES ARE PRESENTED. A TABLE IS FURNISHED SHOWING WHICH OF THE CRITERIA ARE MET BY EACH STUDY, THE TYPE OF TREATMENT INVOLVED, AND THE RESULTS CLAIMED. THE AUTHOR CONCLUDES THAT FUTURE EVALUATION STUDIES MIGHT PROVE MORE FRUITFUL IF THEY EMPLOY STATISTICAL RATHER THAN EXPERIMENTAL METHODS OF CONTROL.
