Abstract
MEMBER STATES IN THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE WHO RATIFIED THIS CONVENTION AGREED TO ENFORCE SANCTIONS IMPOSED BY THE COURTS OF OTHER CONTRACTING STATES. IN ADDITION TO GENERAL PROVISIONS FOR ENFORCEMENT, SEVERAL ARTICLES IN THIS TREATY PROTECT DEFENDANTS AGAINST DOUBLE JEOPARDY IN THE MEMBER STATES FOR OFFENSES WHICH WERE ALREADY TRIED IN ONE STATE.
