Abstract
THE GUIDE OFFERS A PROGRAMMED, CONSISTENT MEANS OF ASSURING THAT ALL OFFICERS ARE QUALIFIED AND KNOWLEDGEABLE IN THE SAME PROCEDURES AND POLICIES. CHECKLISTS COVERING A FULL RANGE OF GENERAL DEPARTMENTAL KNOWLEDGE AND SPECIFIC POLICING TASKS PROVIDE THE FIELD TRAINING OFFICER WITH A COURSE OF INSTRUCTION AS WELL AS AN ORDERLY PROGRESS REPORT ON THE NEW OFFICER'S GROWTH AND PERFORMANCE, WHILE PREVENTING UNNECESSARY DUPLICATION OF TRAINING.
