REVIEW OF FEDERAL AND STATE CASES ON FREEDOM OF SPEECH AS IT APPLIES TO COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN INMATES AND THE OUTSIDE WORLD.
Abstract
THE RIGHT OF PRISONERS TO COMMUNICATE THROUGH WRITTEN CORRESPONDENCE AND VISITING IS GOVERNED BY PRISON REGULATIONS, AND COURTS HAVE BEEN RELUCTANT TO INTERFERE WITH THE AUTHORITY OF PRISON ADMINISTRATORS. THE AUTHOR EXAMINES LEGAL REMEDIES WHICH INMATES COULD USE IN LITIGATION TO ESTABLISH THE RIGHT OF FREE SPEECH IN PRISONS.
