Abstract
Individual articles focus on the fear of crime and other psychological impacts of gang violence on law-abiding members of the community, the activities of a group of mothers organized to prevent gang violence, drug law offenses committed by gang members, the adoption of prison gang characteristics by street gangs, and the impact of gang violence in movies. Other articles focus on gang prevention and control strategies in Long Beach, theories regarding the Los Angeles gang problem, efforts by campus police to prevent gang activity on university campuses, and the efforts of a gang ministry to rehabilitate gang members. Photographs
