Abstract
Partnerships of drug agencies and probation teams result in a smoother referral procedure; attracting new clients into service; an agreed assessment procedure; an exchange-of-information policy; and new services or new group work provision. The book includes: (1) a picture of the main issues and legislation affecting each field; (2) an illustration of the similarities and differences in working cultures, an understanding of which is vital to successful partnership work; (3) a framework for negotiations and guidance in overcoming common difficulties; (4) a model protocol of agreement as a starting point for negotiations; and (5) funding information for voluntary drug agencies wishing to engage in partnership work.
