This guide to drug prevention offers detailed background information on drugs and addiction together with guidelines for establishment of a drug addiction prevention program.
Abstract
The text was developed by the Mexican State agency against drug addiction, intended for anyone who needs to understand and develop such a prevention program. Section One includes details on defining drugs, drug characteristics, and conceptualizing a drug prevention program. Section Two offers basic elements for the development, implementation, and evaluation of a drug addiction program. Development includes diagnosing the situation, quantitative and qualitative methodologies, and descriptions of characteristics that indicate the need of a program. Implementation offers scenarios for various program locations. Evaluation offers differ methodologies for evaluation of the impact of the program. Appendixes include information resources, program models, standard questionnaire samples, glossary of terminology, and program outcome descriptions. Numerous references and tables
