ZINC OXIDE - COATED ELECTROSTATIC PHOTOCOPY PAPER HAS A SURFACE SUFFICIENTLY ABRASIVE TO WEAR OFF DEPOSITS OF A BALLPOINT PEN SOCKET WITH ONLY NORMAL WRITING PRESSURE BEING UTILIZED.
Abstract
THESE DEPOSITS GIVE THE ILLUSION OF A SHADOW SIMILAR TO TRACING GUIDELINES, EVEN THOUGH THE QUESTIONED WRITING MAY BE GENUINE. THE AUTHORS INCLUDE SOME OBSERVATIONS ON THE HARDNESS OF METAL THAT IS DEPOSITED ON THIS TYPE OF PAPER. THEY ALSO DISCOVERED THAT THE WRITING OF RIGHT HANDED PERSONS EXHIBITED THESE SHADOWS TO THE RIGHT OF VERTICLE STROKES AND BELOW HORIZONTAL ONES WHEREAS WITH LEFT-HANDED WRITING THE OPPOSITE EFFECT WAS OBSERVED.
