IDENTIFICATION OF INKS THROUGH THE COMBINATION OF TECHNIQUES OF THIN LAYER CHROMATOGRAPHY AND INFRARED PHOTOGRAPHY.
Abstract
THE METHOD INVOLVES ILLUMINATING THIN LAYER CHROMATOGRAMS WITH A TUNGSTEN-HALOGEN LAMP AND THEN PHOTOGRAPHING THEM ON INFRARED SENSITIVE FILM. MANY INKS HAVING VISUALLY SIMILAR CHROMATOGRAMS ARE EASILY DIFFERENTIATED BY THE RESULTING LUMINESCENT DISPLAYS IN THE INFRARED AREA OF THE SPECTRUM.
