A NEW YORK POLICE DEPARTMENT HUMAN RELATIONS WORKSHOP WAS HELD TO SEEK AN ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM OF DEPARTMENTAL RACIAL PREJUDICE.
Abstract
TWELVE N.Y.C. POLICEMEN, SIX BLACK AND SIX WHITE, PARTICIPATED EIGHT TWO-HOUR, OPEN-ENDED DISCUSSION SESSIONS. THEY PREPARED A POSITION PAPER ON RACIAL PREJUDICE. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT CONSENSUS OF THE ENTIRE EIGHT SESSIONS WAS THAT 'THERE SHOULD BE NO DIFFERENCE IN WHAT EITHER BLACKS OR WHITES SHOULD DO AS POLICEMEN.'
