This paper includes an introductory commentary and an annotated bibliography of about 90 works on judicial intervention and nonintervention in prison administration.
          Abstract
The reference works cited are of particular importance now that courts have become involved in scrutinizing prison officials' decisions about inmates. The bibliography is divided into works of general concern and those involving free exercise of religion in prison, cruel and unusual punishment, and prisoners' access to courts, counsel, legal materials, and jailhouse lawyers. Law review articles, dissertations, books, and correctional proceedings are some of the publications represented.
