Abstract
THE SUMMARY OF LEAA'S ACTIVITIES ALSO INCLUDES A BACKGROUND OF THE SAFE STREETS ACT, FUNDING LEVELS FOR CORRECTIONS, THE NEW PART E PROGRAM, AND TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE EFFORTS. FINALLY, THIS REPORT INCLUDES A SECTION ON THE WORK DONE BY A NUMBER OF STATES IN THE CORRECTIONS FIELD. THE AUTHOR STATES THAT THESE REPORTS, COMPILED BY THE STATES THEMSELVES, SHOW THE VARIETY OF EFFORTS BEING MADE TO IMPROVE CORRECTIONS PROBLEMS. NOT ALL THE STATES ARE INCLUDED, BY A WIDE SAMPLING OF BOTH CORRECTIONS PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS RELATING TO JUVENILE CORRECTIONS IS PROVIDED. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
