This article provides sources of printed statistical information published by the Government on various subjects relating to the law, including attorneys, courts, criminal justice, legal education, prisoners, and juvenile justice.
Abstract
The 'American Statistics Index' indexes and abstracts every type of statistical publication printed by the Federal Government. Another general reference work is the 'Guide to U.S. Government Statistics,' an annotated guide to over 1,700 recurring Government publications which provides a listing of over 3,200 titles in the major statistical series. Additional statistical materials cited are provided in an annotated bibliography under the following categories: general, administrative agencies, attorney salaries, courts, criminal justice, drug enforcement, immigration, Justice Department, juvenile justice, legal education, legal services, and prisoners. Over 70 items are listed. For each Government-published source, the following information is provided: issuing body, title, dates, frequency, depository item number, and Superintendent of Documents classification number. Titles include 'Persons Under the Supervision of the Federal Probation System,' 'Automobile Accident Litigation,' and 'National Survey of Court Organization.' Approximately 75 listings are provided in the article.
