Abstract
THE AUTHOR SUGGESTS THAT A 'CHILD PROTECTION' APPROACH RATHER THAN A 'PARENTAL PUNISHMENT' APPROACH BE TAKEN IN CHILD ABUSE CASES. SUGGESTIONS FOR POLICE IN HANDLING AND PREVENTING THESE CASES ARE PROVIDED.
