This article outlines some basic steps for implementing a security program in budget motels.
Abstract
The six steps to providing a security program in budget motels involve time, but cost little. Managing by walking through, the first step, involves seeing what is going on in the business and getting close to customers and employees. A background check on prospective employees is an important second step because applicants may have falsified their employment record or reasons for leaving jobs. Training employees in security and emergency response procedures is a potentially effective third step as it can provide sound defense should an unfortunate incident occur. The remaining steps involve liaison with local law enforcement, communication with neighbors, and designating or hiring a security person to patrol the property.
