Court statistics were taken from data reported by the 43 juvenile courts of Missouri for 1980.
Abstract
Data are given for total juvenile court cases; delinquency, status, and traffic offenses; dependency and neglect cases; adoptions; and other special proceedings for the years 1937-80 in a comparative table. The section on delinquency and status referrals is organized into a discussion of the demographic characteristics of children referred to the courts and a discussion of what occurs after the referral is made to the court (i.e., manner of handling, care pending disposition, and disposition). Also included is demographic information about youths referred for traffic violations and child abuse and neglect. Referral data on child abuse and neglect cases are provided. Data tables and a form are included.
