SURVEY WHICH EVALUATED COURT RECORDS MANAGEMENT PRACTICES AND THE QUALITY OF THE STORED JUDICIAL INFORMATION.
Abstract
THE MAJOR PROBLEMS WHICH EXIST IN RECEIVING, STORING, AND DISSEMINATING CASE INFORMATION WERE IDENTIFIED. THESE INCLUDED SUCH PROBLEMS AS EXCESS VERBIAGE, OVER-RELIANCE ON TECHNICAL TERMS, AND DIFFICULTIES IN REPRODUCING HANDWRITTEN RECORDS. THE PROJECT TEAM SUGGESTS A SERIES OF IMPROVEMENTS TO SIMPLIFY AND SYSTEMATIZE THE INFORMATION PROCESS. AMONG THESE ARE AN INTEGRATED CASE FILE, SUMMARY CASE INFORMATION SHEETS, NEW INFORMATION FORMS, PLAINTIFF AND DEFENDANT INDICES, AND INCREASED USAGE OF MICROFILM. THE APPENDICES CONTAIN SAMPLES OF THE PROPOSED INFORMATION SHEETS.
