SURVEY OF THE RATES AND CHARACTERISTICS OF ADDICTION AMONG 225 OFFENDERS IN THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA JAIL IN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER 1969.
Abstract
THE STUDY SHOWED THAT ALMOST ONE OUT OF EVERY TWO OFFENDERS ENTERING THE DC JAIL WAS A HEROIN ADDICT. IT APPEARED THAT THE NON ADDICT OFFENDER HAD STRONGER TIES TO CONVENTIONAL COMMUNITY LIFE THAN THE ADDICT OFFENDER.
