Abstract
IT IS STATED THAT ALL NEW WILDLIFE AGENTS ARE REQUIRED TO ATTEND THE LAW ENFORCEMENT BASIC TRAINING ACADEMY AT LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY IN BATON ROUGE. ADVANCE COURSES DEALING WITH VARIOUS ASPECTS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT ARE HELD ON A REGULARLY SCHEDULED BASIS, AND ALL AGENTS ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THESE COURSES. THE INCREASINGLY SELECTIVE REQUIREMENTS FOR WILDLIFE AGENTS ARE ALSO DISCUSSED. WILDLIFE AGENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ENFORCING THE STATE CONSERVATION LAWS, POLICING HUNTING AND BOATING SAFETY REGULATIONS, HANDLING RESCUE WORK, AND COMPILING BIOLOGICAL FIELD DATA. THE ADVANCES MADE IN EQUIPMENT FOR THE WILDLIFE ENFORCEMENT DIVISION ARE EXAMINED AS WELL. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
