This report presents an accounting of complaints received during the reporting year 1993 by the New Brunswick, CN, Office of the Ombudsman.
Abstract
The report includes information in the following categories: Highlights of the Year, Selected Case Summaries, Types of Complaints, Office of the Ombudsman, Statistical Tables, Right to Information Act, Adoption Information, and Official Languages Act. The Office of the Ombudsman received 2,030 complaints against the provincial government and city, town and village governments in 1993. The total number of complaints of all types increased 9.4 percent over 1992. The Office also received 4.506 complaints and requests for assistance; two petitions to review ministerial refusals to release information under the Right to Information Act; three requests to review refusals by the Minister of Health and Community Services to release adoption information under the Family Services Act; and 45 complaints with respect to the administration of the Official Languages Act.
