Abstract
Minnesota's total population is expected to increase 5 percent in the decade from 1995 to 2005, with African American, Asian and other populations the fastest growing and white population the slowest. There are statistics from a 1993 crime survey of victims and offenders, accounting for both juvenile and adult offenders. A 1993 survey also documents citizens' fears versus actual experience of personal attack, property damage or theft, and robbery or attempted robbery. Reported offenses, crime rates, and arrests during the years 1980 to 1993 are presented. Arrest rates for 1993 are described by age groups, by gender, and by region. There is a chart showing Minnesota's national ranking for 1993 in justice expenditures, population, reported offenses, and arrests. There are statistics on Minnesota justice system workloads for specific years: Adult Court cases (1982-1983); Adult Probation cases (1984-1993); Jail Population (1980-1993); Adult Prison Population (1980-1994); and Expenditures and Policies (1973-1994). Terms used throughout the report are defined on the opening page.
