This document presents materials from a national conference focusing on victim compensation, victim services, and the programs and activities of the Office for Victims of Crime (OVC) in the United States Justice Department's Office of Justice Programs.
Abstract
OVC was established in accordance with the Victims of Crime Act of 1984. It is responsible for administering the State crime victim compensation and assistance grant programs that enhance and expand State and local program efforts and for developing training programs for direct services providers at the Federal, State, and local levels. Other activities include providing technical assistance to national, State, local, and nonprofit organizations on issues regarding crime victims and managing grants that promote and advance services to crime victims and their families.
