TREATMENT TECHNIQUES FOR THE SOCIAL RE-INTEGRATION OF CRIMINALS APPLIED IN THE SPECIAL SECTION OF A WEST GERMAN HOSPITAL IN HOHENASPERG, CALLED 'SOCIO-THERAPEUTIC INSTITUTION.
Abstract
SOCIO-THERAPY IS INTENDED AT A COMBINATION OF TECHNIQUES RANGING FROM ERSOTHERAPY, TO CONTACT THERAPY, INDIVIDUAL AND GROUP PSYCHOTHERAPY, BEHAVIOR THERAPY, AND, WHEN NECESSARY, MEDICAL AND SURGICAL THERAPY. THE LATTER MAY, IN THE CASE OF SERIOUS SEXUAL OFFENDERS WITH ABNORMAL PERSONALITY FLAWS, INCLUDE CASTRATION. THE TREATMENT IS SEQUENTIAL AND OPERATES AT THREE LEVELS, PLACING MAJOR EMPHASIS ON GROUP ACTIVITIES AND TEAM WORK. THE PROGRAM IS IMPLEMENTED BY A GROUP OF PSYCHOTHERAPISTS, PSYCHOLOGISTS, SOCIAL WORKERS AND SPECIALLY-TRAINED CRIMINAL JUSTICE OFFICERS.
