TESTS HYPOTHESIS THAT PEOPLE CAN BE GRADED ALONG A CONTINUUM OF CRIMINALITY AND THAT THOSE FARTHER TOWARD THE EXTREME OF THIS TENDENCY WOULD BE MOST LIKELY TO RECIDIVATE UPON INSTITUTIONAL RELEASE.
Abstract
ONE HUNDRED AND SEVENTY-EIGHT BOYS IN A BORSTAL INSTITUTION WERE ADMINISTERED A PERSONALITY QUESTIONNAIRE AND SCORES DETERMINED. AFTER RELEASE 122 BOYS WERE IN THE RECIDIVIST CATEGORY WHILE 56 WERE NOT. THE AUTHOR CONCLUDE THAT THERE ARE PERSONALITY DIFFERENCES BETWEEN RECIDIVIST AND NON-RECIDIVIST BOYS.
