A PLASTIC SURGERY PROGRAM CAN BE AN EFFECTIVE AID IN THE REHABILITATION OF DISFIGURED OFFENDERS.
Abstract
A THREE YEAR EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION SHOWED THAT DISFIGURED OFFENDERS WHO RECEIVED PLASTIC SURGERY RETURNED TO PRISON AT SIGNIFICANTLY LOWER RATES THAN THOSE WHO DID NOT RECEIVE SURGERY. PLASTIC SURGEONS MAY BE ABLE TO CORRECT BOTH FUNCTIONAL DEFORMITIES AND COSMETIC OR SOCIALLY HANDICAPPING DISFIGUREMENTS.
