POLICE-COMMUNITY RELATIONS EXPANDED THE TRADITIONAL OBJECTIVES OF LAW ENFORCEMENT. WITHIN INDIVIDUAL DEPARTMENTS AND THE POLICE OCCUPATION AS A WHOLE, COMMUNITY RELATIONS HAS CREATED NEW OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTIES AND NEW DIMENSIONS TO THE GENERAL POLICE ROLE, INSPIRING NEW EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL NORMS.
