          Abstract
This guidebook contains information about how adults can protect children from sexual abuse. It describes what to look for and how to talk with other adults and with children about preventing sexual abuse. It offers guidance about what to do when a parent has a concern that their child may be in danger of sexual abuse. Most importantly, it offers information about who to call for advice, for help, or to report a case of child sexual abuse. Included is information which defines child sexual abuse, explains child sexual abuse touching and non-touching behaviors; provides behavior signs of possible sexual abuse; explains how to develop a safety action plan for the family; lists physical warning signs that may indicate that a child might have experienced abuse; explains signs that indicate that an adult may be at-risk to sexually abuse a child; and details facts about community notification laws. Other information answers questions about people who sexually abuse children; about children who sexually interact with other children; examines age-appropriate sexual behavior of children; and demonstrates what to watch out for when adults are with children. Prevention, treatment, and recovery resources are included.
