CASE STUDY OF A HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION IN LOS ANGELES, CALIF. , WHICH RESULTED IN THE FIRST SUCCESSFUL U. S. PROSECUTION FOR MURDER BY INSULIN OVERDOSE.
Abstract
WILLIAM ARCHERD, A MASS MURDERER, BAFFLED POLICE ON THE WEST COAST FOR TWENTY YEARS BECAUSE HIS MURDER WEAPON, INSULIN, COULD NOT BE IDENTIFIED OR TRACED IN THE BLOOD AND TISSUES OF THE HUMAN BODY. COOPERATION BETWEEN POLICE AND PATHOLOGISTS FINALLY RESULTED IN A NEW MEDICAL TECHNIQUE FOR MEASURING AN INSULIN OVERDOSE BOTH IMMUNOLOGICALLY AND BIOLOGICALLY FROM A BRAIN TISSUE EXTRACTION.
