Abstract
THE DOCUMENT OPENS WITH A NARRATIVE SUMMARY OF THE SURVEY FINDINGS ORGANIZED IN FIVE SPECIFIC CATEGORIES OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES; FEDERAL, STATE, COUNTY, DISTRICT/MUNICIPAL/LOCAL, AND COLLEGE/UNIVERSITY. THE DATA IS THEN PRESENTED IN A SUMMARY MATRIX FORM SHOWING ALL 50 STATES, FOLLOWED BY SEPARATE LISTINGS FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL STATE. DATA WAS GATHERED FROM LETTERS SENT TO EACH STATE'S ATTORNEY GENERAL, SECRETARY OF STATE, AND COMMISSIONER OF PUBLIC SAFETY. IN ADDITION, A NUMBER OF SOURCES SUCH AS PLANNING AGENCIES AND STATE POLICE AGENCIES FURNISHED PERTINENT INFORMATION. THESE SOURCES ARE IDENTIFIED IN EACH INDIVIDUAL STATE AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT LISTING. AN ADDENDA DATED JULY 1975 LISTS CHANGES THAT HAVE OCCURRED SINCE THE PRINTING OF THE SURVEY AND ADDITIONS, DELETIONS AND CORRECTIONS ARE SHOWN FOR EACH STATE AND THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT.
