MANY DIFFICULTIES EXIST WHICH ARE PECULIAR TO LATIN AMERICA. THE MOST SIGNIFICANT DRAWBACKS ARE THAT DATA ARE OFTEN NOT AVAILABLE FROM GOVERNMENT SOURCES AND THAT CRIMINOLOGICAL RESEARCH IN THE PAST HAS CENTERED ON BIOLOGY.
