TESTIMONY BY INDIVIDUALS WHO DEAL WITH RUNAWAYS AND BY RUNAWAYS THEMSELVES ON THE SCOPE OF THE RUNAWAY PROBLEM AND KINDS OF SOLUTIONS NECESSARY TO DEAL WITH IT.
Abstract
THE LEGISLATION AROUND WHICH THESE HEARINGS WERE ORGANIZED IS DESIGNED TO PREVENT DELINQUENCY BY ASSURING RUNAWAYS TEMPORARY SHELTER FACILITIES AND BY PROVIDING HOME FAMILY COUNSELING. THE QUESTIONS DIRECTED AT THE WITNESSES WERE INTENDED TO PROBE THE ROOT CAUSES OF THE YOUNG RUNAWAY'S PROBLEMS. THE TESTIMONY WAS ENLIGHTENING CONCERNING WHO RUNS AWAY FROM HOME AND WHAT HE DOES WHILE ON THE STREETS. IN ADDITION, A REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, EDUCATION AND WELFARE PRESENTED HIS VIEWS ON THE RUNAWAY PROBLEM.
