REPORT ON A PROJECT TO EVALUATE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF CORRECTIONS PROGRAMS OF SASKATCHEWAN, CANADA, AND TO DEVELOP A CORRECTIONAL 'BLUEPRINT' WITH RECOMMENDATIONS FOR THE FUTURE DIRECTION OF CORRECTIONAL PROGRAMS.
Abstract
THE COMMITTEE'S REPORT IS BASED ON INTERVIEWS WITH PERSONS IN CONTACT WITH THE CORRECTIONAL SYSTEM, ON-SITE INSPECTION, WRITTEN BRIEFS, AND SPECIAL STUDIES. SPECIFIC RECOMMENDATIONS ARE MADE, RELATING TO SUCH AREAS AS ORGANIZATION OF THE CORRECTIONAL SYSTEM AND THE INSTITUTIONS WHICH COMPRISE IT, STAFF DEVELOPMENT, AND RESEARCH. PROBATION AND PAROLE PROGRAM REFORMS AND SPECIAL PROVISIONS FOR DEALING WITH INDIANS AND SPECIAL OFFENDER GROUPS ARE ALSO RECOMMENDED.
