Abstract
THIS BOOK RECONSTRUCTS HIS SCOTLAND YARD EXPERIENCES, WHICH RANGE FROM A POLITICAL BOMBING IN BRITISH GUIANA, THE CONTRIBUTION OF SPECTROGRAPHIC ANALYSIS TO THE SOLUTION OF THE 1963 GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY, AND THE EXTRAORDINARY HAROLD LOUGHANS CASE IN WHICH AN INNOCENT PUBLICITY-SEEKING MAN CONFESSED TO A MURDER HE DID NOT COMMIT. THE AUTHOR BRIEFLY SPECULATES ON THE FUTURE OF FORENSIC SCIENCE.
