Abstract
THE PREVENTIVE MEASURES LAW OF 1889 IS DIRECTED TOWARD CONTROLLING OR DEPORTING PERSONS CONSIDERED DANGEROUS TO SECURITY AND MORALS (INCLUDING MEMBERS OF CRIMINAL GANGS) AND CERTAIN PROVISIONS OF ANOTHER LAW ARE DIRECTED AGAINST THE MAFIA AND ITS CRIMINAL ACTIVITIES. THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR COORDINATING THE ACTIVITIES OF THE CRIMINAL POLICE WAS SET UP IN ROME IN 1967, AND INTERPROVINCIAL CRIMINAL POLICE CENTERS IN EACH REGIONAL CAPITAL WERE SET UP FOR THE PURPOSE OF COMBATTING SERIOUS CRIME IN ITALY, AND ESPECIALLY ORGANIZED CRIME. THE BODY WHICH EXECUTES THE ORDERS OF THIS SPECIAL COORDINATING ORGANIZATION IS THE MOBILE GUARD, WHICH IS DIVIDED UP INTO VARIOUS SUBORGANIZATIONS SPECIALIZING IN THE VARIOUS TYPES OF CRIME (MURDER, ROBBERY, ETC.). THE MOBIL GUARD HAS NUMEROUS SMALL, MOBILE EMERGENCY TEAMS CALLED 'FLYING SQUADS'.ACTIVITIES ARE CONTROLLED FROM A COMMUNICATIONS CENTER WITH TELEPHONE, RADIO, TELEGRAPH AND TELEVISION FACILITIES. ITALY IS ACTIVELY ENGAGED IN INTERNATIONAL EFFORTS DIRECTED AGAINST ORGANIXED CRIME THROUGH INTERPOL. --IN GERMAN
