A NARRATIVE OUTLINE AND SUGGESTIONS FOR A STATEWIDE COMPUTERIZED INFORMATION SYSTEM TO BENEFIT THE JUDICIAL, LEGISLATIVE, EXECUTIVE, ADMINISTRATIVE, ENFORCEMENT, AND ADVOCACY PROCESSES OF JUSTICE ADMINISTRATION.
Abstract
THE AUTHOR REVIEWS THE NEED FOR READILY ACCESSIBLE INFORMATION, AND STATES THAT COMPUTERIZED INFORMATION SYSTEMS NOW AVAILABLE MAY PROVIDE A MEANS TO FILL THIS NEED. IT IS STRESSED THAT ANY TRANSITION FROM PRESENT TECHNIQUES OF INFORMATION STORAGE AND RETRIEVAL TO THOSE OF THE COMPUTER MUST BE ACCOMPLISHED WITH GREAT CARE FOR THE PUBLIC INTEREST IN DUE PROCESS, INDIVIDUAL RIGHTS AND SOUND PROCEDURES OF PUBLIC ADMINISTRATION. THE ROLE OF LAW SCHOOLS AND UNIVERSITIES IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SUCH A SYSTEM IS SUGGESTED, AND THE NEED FOR A TOTALLY INTEGRATED STATEWIDE SYSTEM IS EMPHASIZED. RECOMMENDATIONS ON THE COORDINATION AND ADMINISTRATION OF THE SYSTEM ARE PROVIDED. (AUTHOR ABSTRACT MODIFIED)
