Abstract
THE GENERAL ACCOUNTING OFFICE (GAO) VISITED SEVEN COUNTRIES TO SEE WHETHER THE PROHIBITED ASSISTANCE WAS PHASED OUT. GAO FOUND THE AGENCIES (DEPARTMENT OF STATE, DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE, AND THE AGENCY FOR INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT) TOOK POSITIVE ACTION TO PREVENT ASSISTANCE FROM BEING USED BY FOREIGN POLICE FORCES.
