              This report summarizes the recommendations and provides the texts of the presentations at a day-long workshop designed to generate ideas from criminal justice practitioners regarding how to reduce violence in Delaware.
          Abstract
              Workshop topics included legislation dealing with violence, the work of the Domestic Violence Task Force, efforts to address violent offenders in corrections or the community, therapy for perpetrators of violence, the prevention of homicides and violent assaults, conflict resolution and mediation as alternatives to violence, juvenile violence, and sex offender treatment. Priority recommendations included assessment of all sex offenders, increased community counseling and treatment for sex offenders, the development of counseling for perpetrators of domestic assault, the use of input from ex-offenders and their families, and the initiation of a 12-step program called Violence Anonymous. Other measures recommended include a program for first offenders, liaison with the medical community, development of mentoring programs, analysis of trends in homicide data, and expansion of community mediation.
