Abstract
Every manufacturer's camera strategy and philosophy is slightly different. Sony Electronics is working on improvement in low-light performance, blooming, and smear characteristics. Improvement in those three areas helps provide more usable images for security professionals. An area of growth at Sony is development of camera products cosmetically detailed for specific applications. New from Philips Communication & Security Systems is a complete camera line that is ultra-sensitive to light and remotely configurable. And Philips has developed a G3 Series Autodome high-resolution color camera with auto-focus technology. The new 3800 Series color camera from Cohu Electronics features a powerful integrated optical zoom lens. Domes and enclosures for CCTV cameras are shrinking and are becoming integrated with the camera. Future developments will probably include motion detectors and pre-sets as well as people recognition from memory put into the camera.
