THERE IS NEED FOR A NEW CRIMINOLOGICAL DISCIPLINE WHICH WOULD INVOLVE CARRYING OUT SYSTEMATIC ANALYSES OF THE SITUATIONS IN WHICH CRIMES ARE COMMITTED SO THAT STEPS COULD BE TAKEN TO ELIMINATE THOSE SITUATIONS.
Abstract
THE NEW DISCIPLINE MIGHT BE CALLED TECHNOLOGICAL CRIME PREVENTION. IT WOULD BE CONCERNED PRIMARILY WITH CRIMES OF OPPORTUNITY, SUCH AS THE THEFT OF AUTOMOBILES, MOTORCYCLES, AND BICYCLES. THE TECHNICAL PLANNING AND CONSTRUCTION OF BUILDINGS, STREETS, AND ENTIRE DISTRICTS WOULD BE AN IMPORTANT ELEMENT OF TECHNOLOGICAL CRIME PREVENTION. --IN DUTCH
