              THIS TRAINING MANUAL FOR COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATION AND REHABILITATION IN A CORRECTIONAL ENVIRONMENT IS DESIGNED FOR MANAGERS WHO WISH TO BECOME MORE EFFECTIVE IN TREATMENT AND PROGRAM IMPLEMENTATION.
          Abstract
              AN INSERVICE TRAINING OUTLINE AND AN OUTLINE FOR A TRAINING PACKAGE IN BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION IS PRESENTED. COMPUTERIZED DATA FORMS ARE ALSO INCLUDED. A PAPER ON BEHAVIORAL CHANGE DISCUSSES ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS THAT AFFECT BEHAVIOR, SUCH AS INCREASING OR DECREASING THE BEHAVIOR FREQUENCY. PRINCIPLES OF BEHAVIOR CHANGE ARE DESCRIBED INCLUDING INCREASING LOW LEVEL BEHAVIOR, DECREASING HIGH LEVEL BEHAVIOR, AND CONDITIONS FOR EFFECTIVE USE. A PAPER ON MODELING DISCUSSES THE STAGES OF ACQUISITION OR LEARNING HOW TO PERFORM A GIVEN BEHAVIOR AND THE PERFORMANCE; SOME PROBLEMS OF MODELING BEHAVIOR; AND SUGGESTIONS FOR IMPROVEMENTS SUCH AS SELF-CONTRACTS. ADDITIONAL SECTIONS DISCUSS THE ROLE OF PERCEPTION, REPRESENTATION, AND ENCODING IN LEARNING; THE PREDICTIVE VALUE OF SOCIAL EXPOSURE AS STANDARDS FOR CONDUCT, AND WEIGHTING OF THESE STANDARDS; AND MODELING AND ITS IMPLICATIONS. THE IMPACT OF THE SOCIAL SYSTEM ON MOTIVATION AND CONDUCT, AND THE IMPLICATIONS OF ROLE MODELS AND REWARDS FOR INMATES TRYING TO ADAPT TO A ROLE OUTSIDE OF PRISON ARE ALSO DISCUSSED.
