Abstract
DESCRIBED ARE THE TYPES OF VOICEPRINTS, THEIR NATURE, AND THE THEORY UNDERLYING THE UNIQUENESS OF INDIVIDUAL VOICES, INCLUDING A SHORT EXPLANATION OF THE PHYSICAL PROCESS OF SPEECH. AREAS OF PRACTICAL APPLICATION FOR VOICE IDENTIFICATION, SUCH AS HANDLING BOMB THREATS, FALSE FIRE ALARMS, AND OTHER CRIMES INVOLVING THE USE OF THE TELEPHONE, AND ILLUSTRATIVE CASES ARE CITED.
