This report summarizes the presentations and workshops of a conference dealing with social crime prevention strategies being developed in England and Wales. The presentations dealt with juvenile crime prevention activities in Wales as well as juvenile crime reduction.
Abstract
The conference, a collaborative effort of the Mid Glamorgan County Crime Prevention Committee, the Center for Applied Social Studies in University College of Swansea, National Association for the Care and Resettlement of Offenders (NACRO), and the Welsh Office, was held February 10, 1989 in Mid Glamorgan. Workshop topics included the Salford partnership for crime prevention, coordinated action on youth crime, a voluntary approach to neighborhood-based youth activities, and consultations with young people. A discussion of a neighborhood approach to crime prevention, crime prevention and employment training, implementation of social crime prevention in Mid Glamorgan, and young people and alcohol misuse is also presented. It concludes with a presentation on the implications of the Working Party Report on Juvenile Crime from the Home Office Standing Conference on Crime Prevention and a closing commentary.
