GENERAL EVALUATION OF DRUG ABUSE BY JUVENILES AND YOUNG ADULTS IN BELGIUM ON THE BASIS OF STATISTICS FROM THE BELGIAN CRIMINAL POLICE, THE BRUSSELS CITY POLICE, YOUTH DEPARTMENTS, DRUG LAWS, AND LITERATURE ON THE SUBJECT.
Abstract
DRUG USERS ARE CONCENTRATED IN THE POPULATION AGED 17 TO 23, OF WHOM A SIGNIFICANT PERCENTAGE ARE FOREIGNERS. CANNABIS ACCOUNTS FOR MOST OF THE DRUG CONSUMPTION IN THE COUNTRY. THE CAUSES OF DRUG USE ARE ATTRIBUTED TO THE PROBLEMS OF ADOLESCENCE AS WELL AS THE PUBLICITY OF THE MASS MEDIA.
