This article presents an overview of the success in the use of evidence-based supervision in Oklahoma.
Abstract
Oklahoma implemented evidence-based supervision (EBS) in 2006. Probation and parole officers use the tools of evidence-based practice, evidence-based supervision, and research-based supervision to effect and support behavioral change in the offenders they supervise. With its application of EBS, Oklahoma increased successful offender outcomes which in turn reduced recidivism. The outcome results seen are not unlike those promised by the research. All the components of EBS have been demonstrated as valid practices to reduce recidivism when managing community-based corrections populations. The article discusses the tools of evidence-based practice, identifies effective measures in gauging the success of EBS, and the results utilizing these measures. 6 tables
