THIS ARTICLE IS A REPORT OF RESEARCH ON RISK-TAKING BEHAVIOR OF JUVENILES, COMPARING THE BEHAVIOR OF DELINQUENT AND NONDELINQUENT YOUTHS IN FRANCE.
Abstract
AFTER REVIEWING RELEVANT RESEARCH, THE AUTHOR EXPLAINS THE METHODOLOGY OF THE RESEARCH AND TESTS HE USED. RESULTS SHOW THAT THERE WAS NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCE IN RISK-TAKING BEHAVIOR BETWEEN DELINQUENT AND NONDELINQUENT ADOLESCENTS OF APPROXIMATELY SIMILAR SOCIO-ECONOMIC BACKGROUND DURING PERFORMANCE OF THE EXPERIMENTAL TASKS. IT APPEARS, HOWEVER, THAT DELINQUENTS TEND, INDIVIDUALLY AS WELL AS IN GROUPS, TO OVERESTIMATE THEIR POSSIBILITIES OF SUCCESS. --IN FRENCH
