Abstract
THIS MANUAL IS INTENDED TO PROVIDE PERTINENT INFORMATION TO INDIVIDUALS WHO ARE NOT LAWYERS, BUT WHO WORK DAILY WITH JUVENILES IN A FRAMEWORK OF LAW IN WAYNE COUNTY. AN OVERVIEW OF JUVENILE JUSTICE IN WAYNE COUNTY IS FIRST PROVIDED. LEGISLATION DEALING WITH PARENTS AND CHILDREN, CUSTODY AND SUPPORT, PROTECTIVE PROVISIONS FOR MINORS, CHILD CARE ORGANIZATIONS, AND EDUCATION IS SUMMARIZED. ALSO DISCUSSED ARE CITY ORDINANCES, FEDERAL DELINQUENCY LAWS, AND REGULATIONS IMPOSED BY BUSINESS. THE SECTION ON SCHOOL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES CONTAINS COMMENTS ON RECORDS, SEARCH AND SEIZURE, AND DISCIPLINARY PROCEDURES. THE ROLE OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES AND THE JUVENILE COURT IS EXAMINED AS WELL. RESOURCES ARE LISTED FOR THE AREAS OF POLICE, JUVENILE COURTS, AND SCHOOLS.
