THIS REPORT TAKES A LOOK AT THE PROGRESS OF THE KING COUNTY YOUTHFUL OFFENDER PROGRAM AND OFFERS RECOMMENDATIONS FOR IMPROVEMENT.
Abstract
THE PROJECT'S OBJECTIVE WAS TO PROVIDE DIVERSION FOR FIRST-OFFENDER JUVENILES WHO WOULD NORMALLY BE REFERRED TO THE KING COUNTY JUVENILE COURT OR OTHER AGENCIES. IT WAS ALSO TO PROVIDE INDIVIDUAL AND FAMILY COUNSELING SERVICES TO THE JUVENILES AND THEIR PARENTS. THE EVALUATION FOUND THAT THE PROGRAM HAD ACCOMPLISHED ITS GOALS. AMONG THE RECOMMENDATIONS THE EVALUATION OFFERED WERE THE FOLLOWING: THE PROGRAM STAFF SHOULD DEVELOP BETTER CONTROLS FOR REFERRAL CLIENTS, THE PROGRAM SHOULD EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITY OF USING SKILLED VOLUNTEERS OR GRADUATE STUDENTS IN COUNSELING, AND THE PROGRAM SUPERVISOR SHOULD PERFORM MORE LIAISON ACTIVITIES WITH OTHER SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCIES....BDS
