THE AUTHOR DISCUSSES THE ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES OF FOOT PATROLS, AND NOTES THE INEFFECTIVENESS OF A PATROL CAR IN CRIME PREVENTION. COMMON USES OF FOOT PATROLS ARE THEN CITED. THESE USAGES INCLUDE COMMERCIAL AND INDUSTRIAL SECURITY, PATROLS IN PARKS, PATROLS IN BUSINESS DISTRICTS DURING THE BUSINESS DAY, TAVERN DISTRICTS, SCHOOL PATROLS, AND SPOT PATROLS.
