INTERVIEWS WITH 55 WEST GERMAN UPPER LEVEL HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS INDICATED THAT THIS SOCIAL GROUP HAS LARGELY NEGATIVE AND UNINFORMED PERCEPTIONS OF THE POLICE.
Abstract
THE RESULTS OF THE SURVEY WERE PARTICULARLY STRIKING SINCE THE STUDENTS INTERVIEWED HAD THEMSELVES INDICATED AN INTEREST IN PURSUING POLICE CAREERS. AN EIGHT-POINT PUBLIC RELATIONS PROGRAM AIMED SPECIFICALLY AT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS IS SUGGESTED TO HELP CHANGE THEIR NEGATIVE OPINIONS. --IN GERMAN
